The 32nd Annual Indio International Tamale Festival Returns on December 7-8, 2024

The beloved Indio International Tamale Festival is back this year for its 32nd annual celebration, taking place at Miles Avenue Park on December 7-8, 2024. This exciting event, recognized by the Guinness World Records as the Largest Tamale Festival, continues to draw food lovers, locals, and visitors from all over to celebrate culture, flavor, and community.

Celebrating Tradition and Flavor

For over three decades, the festival has been a cherished tradition in Downtown Indio, growing in size and reputation. Tamale vendors will once again compete for the coveted title of ‘Best Tamale’ in three categories: Traditional, Vegetarian, and Sweet. According to Mayor Lupe Ramos Amith, "We’re excited to bring back the focus on tamales—the heart of the event—while continuing to celebrate the rich diversity and culture of our community."

What to Expect at This Year’s Festival

Visitors will enjoy more than just tamales at this family-friendly event. The festival will be filled with live entertainment, cultural exhibits, and a variety of exciting activities for all ages. It will run from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on both Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8.

A Free Community Celebration

As always, the Indio International Tamale Festival offers free admission, free parking, and free entertainment, ensuring accessibility for everyone. Pickering Events, the organizers of the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival presented by Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, aim to keep the focus on community, food, and fun.

“The festival returns to its roots centering on Comunidad, Comida, y Celebracion,” says CEO Chris Pickering. “It’s the feedback from the community that helps us continue to shape the festival into something everyone can enjoy.”
